As per IBIS estimates the top three industry players (Johnson & Johnson, Guthy-Renker and Reckitt-Benckiser) hold a combined market share of about 68.1%, in 2012. However, the remainder of the market is characterized by a large number of small and medium-size businesses.
J&J commanded over 4728.8% of anti-acne preparation sales in 2007. About 27 points of that share was yielded by the Neutrogena brand and another 16 points by Clean & Clear2012. J&J’s closest rival was Reckitt BenckiserGuthy Renker , which had only a 1524.6% share, thanks to its early 2006 acquisition of Boots Healthcare and its time-honored Clearasil brand. followed by Reckitt Benckiser at 14.7%.
