Use Actos as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Take Actos by mouth with or without food. Continue to take Actos even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. Taking Actos at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
Actos is a drug that reduces the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It is in a class of anti-diabetic drugs, called thiazolidinediones, that are used in the treatment of type II diabetes. Actos also lowers the level of glucose in the blood by reducing the production and secretion of glucose into the blood by the liver. In addition, actos may alter the blood concentrations of lipids (fats) in the blood. Specifically, it decreases triglycerides and increases the good (HDL) cholesterol.
Actos is a thiazolidinedione antidiabetic. It lowers blood sugar by making the cells of the body more sensitive to the action of insulin.
Store this medicine at room temperature between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).
